Recipe: Very Vanilla Donuts

When living in Norway I loved to bake. Sophia especially loved donuts, and we did a lot of donut baking. The very vanilla donuts were made when we had a visit from our Minnesota cousins. I really wanted to bake them something typical American and donuts seemed perfect. These donuts have real vanilla seeds both in the dough and in the glaze. The dough is made with yeast and set to rise for light and airy donuts. For the recipe: 2 tsp dry yeast 1 cup sugar 1 1/4 cup warm milk 1 stick melted butter 1 tsp vanilla paste 1 tsp cardamom 1 pinch of salt 1 egg 5 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour canola oil for frying round cutters Glaze: 1/3 cup warm milk 1 ts vanilla paste 3 1/2 cups of powdered sugar Heat the milk up first.
